FAQ

Q. Do I need a Partner?
A. Absolutely not! We rotate partners in every class, and everyone will have sufficient number of partners to dance with. If we have an imbalance, extra people just wait in between couples, and will get a partner in a couple of minutes. We switch partners regularly during class. Although we do not have much power over the number of leaders and followers on the class we do our best to balance it as evenly as possible.

Q. I've never danced, will I stand out? Will I look foolish?
A. No, you will be surrounded by other people, who, just like yourself, have never danced before and are at least as nervous as you are. Don't wait and don't put it off. Our teachers make learning Salsa both Fun & Simple for All Beginners, no matter how many left feet they think they have.

Q. Should I book before coming?
A. No, Our classes are drop-in style dance classes so you can just come for any of our beginners’ class. Having said that, we do have dedicated complete beginners’ class every first week of the month. If you can please come then if not then just come any time and one of our teachers will teach you basics so you can join the group next week.

Q. I originally learnt Cuban, should I learn LA Style as well?
A. Absolutely!! Both styles have their own beauty and it would be a shame to miss out a chance for a dance just because your partner is dancing different style salsa.

Q. Am I too young or too old for salsa? What’s the average age at your classes?
A. Our evenings are primarily for Adults. (We will allow students as young as 16 to come along). Except that there are no other limits. Our students are from early 20s to late 40s and most of them are around 30. Having said that, we even had a student who was 65, so there is never too late for learning salsa!

Q. What should I wear to class? Any special shoes to wear?
A. Most people come in casual wear. Some dress up. Regardless, it's a dance class, so you should be comfortable. The only solid tip is to avoid wearing sports shoes/trainers. You will be spinning, and you need to wear shoes with a leather sole. Once you have been dancing a while you can buy proper dance shoes if you wish - they even make 'Dance Trainers' for those who just have to wear sports shoes!

Q. Why learn with Ready to Dance Academy? Aren't all Salsa Clubs the same?
A.
-Experienced and Qualified Instructors (UKA Accredited Instructors)
-Described by our students as the most Fun and friendly classes in Glasgow
-Our prices are the best Value for Money

Q. Can I progress quicker if I want to? What do you recommend?
A. I suggest you go for social dancing to salsa clubs during the week. This is the key to improve your dancing skills. This applies to ladies and gentlemen. If this is not enough then come for as many classes as you can during the week. Even going back to beginners’ class will benefit you. You will learn more about the technique when you are comfortable with the basic step and turns. If you want more than that simply book a few individual lessons with us. We will concentrate on the areas where you need to improve so you will improve much faster than joining regular classes.

Q. Can I bring a group of people?
A. Absolutely! If you're nervous about taking a class on your own simply invite your friends to come along with you. They'll have a great time and you'll be able to practice together.

Q. How long does it take to learn Salsa?
A. Our beginners’ class is design to make a person be able to dance socially after only 4 weeks of classes. From our experience for men it can take a year to become a reasonable dancer. For women it can take a lot less time, maybe as little as a couple of months. It also depends how fast you can pick it up. Having said that, you can take as many classes as you want but if you put no dedication, effort and determination in it, then they'll be of no use. Practice, Practice, Practice is what will make you a good dancer.

Q. Can I park easily and for free?
A. Yes. Our classes take place in City Centre of Glasgow and at West End so there is no separate car park for our venues but there are always enough places to park in front off or in sounding streets. We start classes as early as 7:30pm and parking is free after 6pm there.

Q. How much do you charge?
A. Check our prices on the following page: prices. Entrance for the party is free.
